Training - Listening
One of the most important aspects of training a German Shepherd is training your German Shepherd to respond to your commands. In order to do this you need to develop your German Shepherd’s listening skills.
A German Shepherd puppy is similar to a small child - you need to teach them right from wrong. One significant different between a small child and a German Shepherd is that you can talk to a child and explain what it is that you need them to do and why it is important.
With a German Shepherd you will need to learn to respond with noises, tones and actions. These noises, tones and actions will form the basis for your communication with your pet. For example, when you desire your German Shepherd to listen to you, first gain their attention, then give communicate what you would like them to do. This may then be followed by a pat, or a special reward of some kind.
